Arizona’s Ambitious Bid: A New U.S. Space Academy

In an exciting development for Arizona, Governor Katie Hobbs has put forward a compelling bid to host the United States’ inaugural Space Academy. This move comes on the heels of an executive order signed by President Donald Trump in August, which mandates the establishment of the nation’s first U.S. Space Academy. Arizona is now vying to be the home of this prestigious institution.

Governor Hobbs announced the formation of the Space Academy Steering Committee, which includes a diverse group of stakeholders such as local mayors, university professors, and leaders from both private and public sectors. This committee is tasked with crafting a proposal to make Arizona the chosen location for the academy.

“Together, we are going to secure the U.S. Space Academy for our state and continue Arizona’s dominance in cutting-edge advanced manufacturing, aerospace and defense and science and engineering,” Hobbs declared in a press release.

Hobbs emphasized the state’s strong educational infrastructure and the availability of vast undeveloped land as key advantages in Arizona’s proposal to host the academy. These factors, she believes, make Arizona an ideal candidate for fostering the future of space exploration and education.
