Fire Restrictions Implemented in Northeastern Arizona Amid Dry Conditions

As northeastern Arizona faces an exceptionally dry winter, new fire restrictions are set to commence this Friday. The move aims to mitigate potential fire hazards in the region.

Beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, Stage One fire restrictions will be in effect for the unincorporated areas of Apache and Navajo counties. This measure will also be adopted by the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests and various nearby communities in the coming days.

Stage One restrictions impose a ban on activities such as fires, campfires, and the use of charcoal, coal, and wood stoves, except in developed recreation areas. Additionally, smoking is confined to enclosed vehicles or buildings. Notably, the use of fireworks is strictly prohibited on both national forest and state lands.

These restrictions serve as a proactive approach to reduce the risk of wildfires during periods of heightened fire danger.
