Mexican Tourist Permit Enforcement at Rocky Point

Visitors heading to Rocky Point in Mexico may need to prepare for a new requirement at the border. According to the Arizona Daily Star, all foreigners entering Mexico must carry a Forma Migratoria Múltiple (FMM) form—a rule that officials are now beginning to enforce more rigorously.

Lizette Ybarra, a spokesperson for Puerto Peñasco’s tourism department, informed AZPM of the recent changes. She explained in Spanish, “In this case, people who regularly travel to Rocky Point, upon crossing the border, were randomly asked for it by the authorities on the Mexican side. For many people, it wasn’t requested, while for others, it was. But as I mentioned, it’s random.”

Although the FMM form is a standard requirement for tourists, Mexican authorities have generally not insisted on it until now. However, Ybarra indicated that enforcement might become more consistent by May.
