Michigan Medicine is actively pursuing a fair agreement with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan to ensure patients retain in-network access to its physicians, hospitals, and services. The organization aims to secure adequate reimbursement for the complex care it provides. The goal is to finalize an agreement before the current contract expires on June 30, 2026.

University of Michigan employees, dependents, and retirees with Blue Cross insurance can continue accessing care at Michigan Medicine facilities, even if a new agreement isn’t reached by the deadline. Throughout the negotiation process, Michigan Medicine remains committed to delivering world-class healthcare, encouraging patients to continue seeking care from its physicians.

Supporters advocating for Michigan Medicine to stay in-network can express their opinions directly to Blue Cross, contact state legislators, or share views on social media. “What we’ve learned over the past few weeks reaffirms what we’ve known about our Michigan Medicine community; we have a powerful voice,” said Julie Ishak, Michigan Medicine chief nurse and operations executive. Faculty, staff, and other constituents are encouraged to leverage their network to amplify advocacy efforts.
