Flathead Valley Community College is actively searching for a new leader as President Jane Karas concludes her 25-year service at the end of the year. The institution has narrowed the search to four finalists, who will each visit the campus in September. These visits will facilitate interactions with faculty, staff, and the local community, answering common questions about the candidates’ vision for the college’s future.

Highlighted among the candidates are:

  • J. Mark Browning: President and CEO of Blue Mountain Community College, Oregon

  • Daniel R. Czech: Dean of the School of Applied Sciences at the University of Mississippi

  • Andrew R. Fields: CEO of the University of Idaho, Coeur d’Alene

  • Deborah Kish Stephan: Campus President of the Brandon Campus of Hillsborough College in Florida

These candidates will visit between September 14-17, dedicating a day each to engage with the Flathead community. Each morning will feature a community forum at 8 a.m. in the Waccholz Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, Room 128. Faculty and employees of FVCC can attend separate forums later each day, providing a platform to discuss key educational strategies and leadership approaches with the candidates.
