A Montana business owner and Trump supporter has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for his involvement in the January 6 Capitol insurrection that halted the certification of the 2020 Electoral College vote. Henry Phillip “Hank” Muntzer, 55, of Dillon, also faces a year of supervised release and must pay $2,000 in restitution.

Muntzer was arrested two weeks after the Capitol riot due to social media posts and videos from inside the building. In February, he was found guilty of obstructing an official proceeding and civil disorder, both felonies. However, a Supreme Court ruling in June led to the dismissal of the obstruction charge before sentencing.

Evidence showed Muntzer traveled to Washington for the “Stop the Steal” rally. After Trump’s speech at the Ellipse, he joined others marching to the Capitol, where he stayed for about 38 minutes. He engaged in physical confrontations with officers near the Senate chamber and Capitol Rotunda, resisting efforts to remove him.

Over 1,500 people have faced federal charges related to the Capitol riot, with more than 1,000 convicted and sentenced. Around 650 individuals have received prison sentences ranging from days to 22 years. Muntzer, known in Dillon for a pro-QAnon mural at his appliance store, was among the last to leave the Capitol.
