A bipartisan majority of Montana state senators is calling for Jonathan Windy Boy, D-Box Elder, to resign his legislative seat amid sexual abuse allegations. The letter, signed by 39 of Montana’s 50 state senators, describes the accusations as “disqualifying for anyone holding public office.” The senators assert that Windy Boy should resign to protect the integrity of the Legislature and its constituents.

Windy Boy, who has yet to publicly address the allegations or respond to inquiries, was previously stripped of interim committee assignments. His legislative term is set to end in December 2028. The allegations, which surfaced in April, involve claims by Helena attorney Brian Miller that Windy Boy sent explicit messages to underage girls in 2002. Miller is a Democratic primary candidate for Montana’s Eastern District U.S. House seat, as is Windy Boy.

Despite initially pausing his congressional campaign, Windy Boy resumed it on May 6, alleging he was the victim of a political attack. This was followed by former legislator Jen Gross revealing she had filed a sexual misconduct complaint against Windy Boy in 2018 over harassing texts. Gross, who remained anonymous until this year, had previously filed the complaint, prompting Windy Boy to step down from a committee chairmanship.

The Senate Ethics Committee members abstained from signing the letter to maintain their impartiality for any potential future proceedings concerning the accusations against Windy Boy. For more updates, visit Montana Free Press.
