Kenosha County’s 450-Pound Pig, Kevin Bacon, Wandered from Home

A 450-pound pig named Kevin Bacon took center stage in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, after making an unexpected visit to the Molgaard family’s home, captured on their security camera.

Jake Molgaard was surprised to see the enormous creature approaching their back door. Being animal lovers, they immediately began feeding the unexpected visitor with a welcoming spread of apples, carrots, and rice cakes.

The Molgaards live in Brighton, around 38 miles south of Milwaukee, an area dotted with farms. So they reached out to a local farmer who knew Kevin’s owner.

The owner, who was out of town at the time, requested the Molgaards luring Kevin back to his pen with his favorite treats: cookies and marshmallows.

After assembling the pig’s favorite sweets, the Molgaards led Kevin home. They accompanied him down trails and roads, even enlisting the aid of the Kenosha County sheriff’s office for a safe escort.

The sheriff’s office humorously referred to the incident as a “typical county call,” on their Facebook page. Deputies took pictures with Kevin before leaving with smiles on their faces.

The journey home wasn’t without its challenges. Whenever Kevin hesitated, the Molgaards’ teenage daughter would hop on his back to encourage him to continue. Eventually, Kevin was safely returned to his pen after a mile and a half’s walk that took around two and a half hours.

“He may be a massive creature, but according to his owner, he’s a gentle giant,” Molgaard said. “We’ve been visiting him daily with a dozen donuts.”
