Tragic Plane Crash Claims Four Lives Near Chinle Airport
A tragic accident occurred near Chinle Airport on Tuesday when a medical transport plane crashed, resulting in the death of four individuals. The incident happened at approximately 12:40 p.m.
The Navajo Police Department reported that the dual-propeller aircraft, which was en route to collect a patient from a nearby hospital, crashed and ignited in flames. The victims of the crash were described as “nonlocal” by Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren.
In a statement, Nygren expressed, “We honor their service, their sacrifice, and the love they showed our communities through their work. On behalf of the Navajo Nation, I extend my deepest condolences to their families, colleagues, and all who are grieving.”
The aircraft was operated by CSI Aviation, a company based in Albuquerque. Currently, officials have not identified the cause of the crash, and the Chinle Airport remains closed to the public as investigations proceed.
Both the National Traffic Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are set to conduct thorough investigations to uncover the reasons behind this unfortunate event.
