Boater’s World Manufacturing Group to Bring New Jobs and Investment to Beaufort County
In an exciting development for Beaufort County, Governor Josh Stein has revealed that Boater’s World Manufacturing Group, LLC plans to create 179 new jobs in North Carolina. The company is set to invest over $6 million to establish a state-of-the-art boat manufacturing facility in Chocowinity, marking a significant investment in the region.
Governor Stein emphasized North Carolina’s strengths, stating, “From building materials to building boats, North Carolina’s manufacturing expertise is second to none.” He highlighted the state’s appeal for businesses, citing its workforce, infrastructure, and economic opportunities as key factors in attracting companies.
This move marks Outdoor Network’s venture into boat manufacturing, following its acquisition of NauticStar Boats. Outdoor Network, a key player in the recreational marine and powersports industry since 1999, aims to expand its reach by producing boats in a 212,000 square-foot facility situated on the Pamlico River. This establishment will serve as their flagship manufacturing location.
CEO of Outdoor Network, Martin Polo, expressed the strategic importance of this development, saying, “Our growth over the last 27 years has always been driven by a simple focus on doing right by our customers, and building boats of our own has always been one of our goals to better serve the marine community.” He also acknowledged the support from North Carolina, expressing excitement about calling Beaufort County their manufacturing home.
N.C. Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley highlighted the conducive business environment in North Carolina, pointing to the skilled workforce and excellent marine supply chain in Chocowinity. “This announcement reflects the confidence employers have in our state’s strong business climate,” he noted.
The jobs created will offer an average salary of $54,916, surpassing the county’s current average of $50,175. This could lead to a substantial payroll contribution of over $1.2 million annually for the local economy.
Supporting this venture, the One North Carolina Fund has allocated a performance-based grant of $375,000 to Boater’s World Manufacturing Group. This initiative aids local governments in attracting new investments and job creation. To qualify for these funds, the company must invest a minimum of $1.3 million and meet specific job creation goals.
Senator Bob Brinson described the project as a significant victory for the region, emphasizing the collaboration between state and local entities. “This project demonstrates what can be accomplished when the General Assembly, the Governor’s Office, the Department of Commerce, and local leaders work together to support existing industries, encourage private investment, and strengthen our rural communities,” he stated.
Representative Keith Kidwell echoed these sentiments, welcoming Boater’s World Manufacturing Group to Chocowinity and emphasizing the importance of fostering business growth and opportunities in Beaufort County.
This project is supported by a coalition of partners, including the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, the state’s General Assembly, the Division of Workforce Solutions, and several educational institutions and local governments.
