Alme leads in leadership PAC donations, securing funds from powerful political networks centered in Washington, D.C. Aaron Flint, contesting for the Western District House seat, follows closely behind Alme.
Leadership PACs and party committees indicate who holds institutional power, with national political networks expertly fundraising to influence Congress. “The party at the national level has access to all the resources to make these things happen,” explained Brendan Glavin from Open Secrets.
Montana Republicans enjoy a significant funding advantage, with $516,200 compared to $40,000 for independent, Democratic, and Libertarian candidates. Independent Seth Bodnar received $40,000 from leadership PACs, while Democrat Alani Bankhead reported no such funding. Leadership PACs of federal officeholders like Sens. Steve Daines and Tim Sheehy back Republican candidates heavily.
Alme’s leadership PAC donations reach approximately $292,000, with contributions from entities like Working for Ohio PAC by VP J.D. Vance. Flint receives around $147,500, including funds from Eye of the Tiger PAC, linked to House Majority Leader Steve Scalise. The National Republican Senatorial Committee emerges as the largest single party committee donor in Montana’s U.S. Senate race, contributing $62,000 to Alme.
Forstag, a Democrat running against Flint in the Western U.S. House District, benefits from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s Red to Blue program, which offers fundraising and strategic support. His campaign involves five joint fundraising committees, which swiftly channel funds when required. Labor unions prominently feature in Forstag’s PAC contributions, reflecting his role in the National Federation of Federal Employees.
Significant PAC donors in Montana include Fight on PAC, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association PAC, and Fair Isaac Corporation PAC. American Mission PAC, linked to AI and defense technology, contributes to Flint. Space Exploration Technologies Corp., owner of Space X AI, donates to Alme, exemplifying diverse industry support for the candidates.
