Body of Young Driver Recovered After SUV Plummets from Grand Canyon’s South Rim
The serene landscape of the Grand Canyon became the scene of a tragic accident as park officials reported the recovery of a young man’s body, discovered after his vehicle plunged off the South Rim.
At approximately 8 a.m. on Monday, dispatchers were alerted to a damaged rock wall and debris from a vehicle near the Yavapai Geology Museum. This prompted an immediate response from officials, who conducted an aerial search to locate the missing vehicle and driver.
The search concluded with the discovery of the vehicle and the 20-year-old Californian’s body roughly a thousand feet below the rim. However, the circumstances leading to this unfortunate event remain unclear, and officials have withheld the victim’s identity.
The recovery operation was carried out by four responders, and the case is currently under investigation in collaboration with the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office.
