Family Disappears Amidst Severe Winter Weather on Route to Las Vegas
A family of three has gone missing while traveling from the Grand Canyon to Las Vegas, prompting authorities to launch a search operation. Their journey coincided with severe winter conditions that resulted in the closure of several highways.
The family, consisting of Jiyeon Lee, Taehee Kim, and Junghee Kim, were last tracked via GPS driving west on Interstate 40 around 3:30 p.m. last Thursday. At the time, a significant snowstorm had caused a multi-vehicle accident involving 22 vehicles near Williams, resulting in two fatalities.
The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office has yet to confirm if the family’s vehicle, a 2024 white BMW with California license plate 9KHN768, was part of the accident. Efforts to locate the family are ongoing.
Authorities urge anyone who may have encountered the family or have information about their whereabouts to contact the sheriff’s office at (928) 774-4523 or reach out to Silent Witness at (928) 774-6111.
