Michigan House Speaker Prioritizes Public Safety Trust Fund and School Cell Phone Ban
As the Michigan Legislature gears up for its spring session, House Speaker Matt Hall, representing Richland Township, has outlined key legislative priorities focused on public safety and education. These initiatives aim to bolster community protection and create better learning environments for students.
During a recent press briefing, the Republican leader emphasized the importance of allocating a portion of the state’s sales tax revenue towards violence prevention strategies and the recruitment and retention of police officers. Hall expressed optimism about the swift progression of related bills, anticipating movement in the House as early as April.
Another significant legislative effort is the proposed limitation of cell phone use in schools, a measure that has gained support from Governor Gretchen Whitmer following her endorsement during the State of the State address.
