A significant development is on the horizon for Great Falls as Janicki Industries, a privately-owned engineering and manufacturing firm, plans to establish a new manufacturing hub in the city. The $800 million facility will be a massive boost to the local economy, providing thousands of jobs. Known for its expertise in aerospace and other sectors, Janicki is headquartered in Washington state. The decision underscores the company’s commitment to expanding its operations beyond its home state.
This initiative is expected to create over 1,000 well-paying jobs in the first five years, with more than 2,000 positions anticipated post-construction. Job roles will span skilled manufacturing and engineering to support roles, offering average salaries between $65,000 and $120,000. Janicki spokesperson Erin Hurley emphasized the diverse employment opportunities the project will bring.
In a statement, Governor Greg Gianforte expressed enthusiasm, citing the move as part of efforts to create a favorable business climate in Montana. He highlighted the state’s appeal to companies looking to escape high-tax, high-regulation environments.
Janicki is acquiring 180 acres in the AgriTech Park, with construction set to begin in July 2026. The first phase is expected to open by late 2027. The company’s expansion is largely driven by the growing demand in aerospace and defense sectors. President John Janicki pointed to challenges in Washington state that make expansion difficult, prompting the move to a more business-friendly location.
Visitors from Great Falls, including city officials, educators, and development leaders, recently toured Janicki’s Washington facilities to explore collaboration opportunities. Erin Hurley noted their visit included representatives from the City of Great Falls, Great Falls Development Alliance, and local educational institutions.
Founded in 1993, Janicki Industries also operates in Utah and employs over 2,000 workers across its facilities. The company’s decision to expand in Great Falls is not just a business move but a commitment to fostering community growth, as emphasized by John Janicki’s vision of rewarding hard work and innovation.
