Miraculous Incident at Nebraska Funeral Home
In Nebraska, a 74-year-old woman believed to have passed away in hospice care was found breathing after being transported to a funeral home. The woman was initially declared dead at a nursing home and later transferred to the Butherus-Maser & Love Funeral Home in Lincoln, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
The unusual incident unfolded when a funeral home employee noticed the woman was breathing and immediately dialed 911. Authorities responded swiftly to the call, which came at around 11:44 a.m., said Lancaster County Chief Deputy Ben Houchin.
Upon finding the woman — identified as Constance Glantz of Lincoln — still alive, the funeral home staff conducted CPR. She was then transported to a local hospital, where she remains alive, Houchin confirmed. Her family has been subsequently notified.
Houchin described the incident as highly unusual during a press briefing. “Been doing this 31 years and nothing like this has ever gotten to this point before,” he remarked.
Since the death was anticipated and there were no suspicious circumstances, the nursing home didn’t have to contact the coroner or local authorities after the woman was declared dead.
The sheriff’s office is currently conducting an investigation; however, Houchin specified that no criminal charges are pending. “We have not found any criminal intent by the nursing home but the investigation is ongoing,” he added.
