Proposition 314, approved by voters in 2024, has introduced new legal consequences for illegal entry into Arizona, classifying it as a misdemeanor. Additionally, it grants state judges the power to order deportations.
The migrant aid organization argues that the measure infringes on the supremacy clause of the US Constitution. This clause predominantly reserves immigration authority for the federal government.
