Kamala Harris returned to Pennsylvania on Friday following a strong debate performance, criticizing Donald Trump on reproductive rights and healthcare.

Thousands of Pennsylvanians from Eastern Pennsylvania packed Wilkes University’s McHale Auditorium to welcome Harris after Tuesday’s debate with Trump.

Harris, coming off a strong debate, attacked Trump in Wilkes-Barre for rolling back reproductive rights.

“On fundamental rights, we remember how [Trump] selected Supreme Court members to undo Roe v. Wade,” Harris said.

“State after state passed laws to criminalize healthcare providers, punish women, and now more than 20 states have a Trump abortion ban, many with no exceptions for rape and incest, which is immoral.”

Harris also criticized Trump for wanting to repeal the Affordable Care Act, affecting millions of Pennsylvanians with preexisting conditions, and having no replacement plan.

“Trump intends to end the Affordable Care Act,” Harris said.

“We remember when he was president, he tried 60 times to end the ACA, and as he said in the debate, he has no plan to replace it.”

“He said he has ‘concepts of a plan.’ Concepts, no actual plan. He’s going to threaten health insurance for 45 million people based on a concept.”

Friday’s rally was Harris’ first trip to Northeastern Pennsylvania since President Biden dropped out of the race in July and her 12th visit since 2020.

The trip was part of the campaign’s “New Way Forward” tour through battleground states, including stops in Republican areas. Harris visited Johnstown before Luzerne County, both areas Trump carried in past elections.

During her speech, Harris emphasized Trump’s lack of an actual plan to replace the ACA, which protects healthcare access for millions of Pennsylvania residents.

Harris concluded by stressing the importance of the upcoming election and warned about Trump’s unchecked powers if he wins in November.

“We are the underdog. We have hard work ahead of us,” Harris said.

“The stakes are higher than ever. The Supreme Court essentially told Trump he will be immune no matter what if he gets back into the White House. Imagine Trump with no guardrails. He has vowed to be a dictator on day one if reelected.”
