ASU Community Unites Against Antisemitism Allegations
The U.S. Department of Education has recently informed Arizona State University (ASU) of an investigation regarding allegations of antisemitism. Despite this, Jewish students and leaders within ASU are firmly supporting their institution.
ASU is one of 60 universities nationwide that have been cautioned about potential actions if they fail to adequately protect Jewish students from antisemitism. In response, the ASU Jewish Faculty and Staff Association, ASU Jewish Studies, Hillel at Arizona State University, and Chabad at ASU collectively issued a statement backing the university.
Debbie Kail, the executive director of Hillel at ASU, highlighted the swift response from these groups. She emphasized their commitment to ensuring that ASU remains a secure and inclusive environment for all students. “I am really appreciative of how quickly ASU responds when there’s concerns, and how committed they are to inclusion, safety and opportunity for all students,” Kail remarked.
Additionally, the organizations pointed to the Anti-Defamation League’s positive assessment of Jewish life at ASU, which is rated as “excellent,” with minimal concerns regarding campus climate and conduct.
